Behavioral Support
The Behavioral Support Service at Millennium Care includes the following steps:
Behavioral Assessment
Utilizing safe and efficient functional assessment procedures, this service focuses on identifying the contexts and factors that trigger problem behaviors such as self-injury, elopement, task refusal, and aggression. This process, known as a functional assessment, involves a thorough review of the participant’s person-centered plan (PCP), medical records, and records from previous service providers, as well as conducting interviews with caregivers and participants and observing the participant in their natural environments. When warranted and possible, the gathered information is used to design scenarios that serve as practical tests to further analyze and confirm the events believed to trigger problem behaviors and the combined reinforcing items, people, places, and activities that motivate the participant.
Behavioral Plan
The insights gained from the Behavioral Assessment are used to create a personalized plan focused on reducing or eliminating problem behaviors and fostering essential skills, such as functional communication, tolerance for delay and denial, and contextually appropriate behaviors like accuracy in adaptive skills, vocational skills, and independent leisure activities. The strategies recommended in the plan are evidence-based, utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and rooted in a preventative, compassionate, trauma-informed approach. This method, known as Skills-Based Treatment (SBT), empowers individuals by giving them choice and control over their participation in various environments. The Behavior Plan also equips caregivers and family members to address problem behaviors effectively while promoting overall growth and development, ultimately enhancing the individuals’ quality of life.
Behavioral Consultation
A service in which a BCBA supervises and monitors the implementation of the Behavior Plan’s recommendations, making necessary modifications along the way. During consultation sessions, the consultant collaborates with the participant and caregivers to ensure the strategies in the Behavior Plan are accurately followed, targeted skills are addressed, and data on specified behaviors are tracked. The consultant conducts frequent data reviews to make programming decisions and provides ongoing training to the team to ensure consistent progress towards the goals outlined in the Behavior Plan. The number of consultation hours is determined by the participant’s individual needs. The DDA mandates that consultations occur at least monthly for the first six months and quarterly thereafter.
Brief Support Implementation Services (BSIS)
This service provides temporary, direct assistance and strategy modeling, as outlined in the Behavior Plan, for families, agency staff, and caregivers. The aim is to enable them to independently and effectively implement all components of the Behavior Plan. A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), supervised by the assigned BCBA, delivers this support. The RBT provides written feedback on the Behavior Plan’s effectiveness and conducts on-site meetings or instructional sessions with the participant’s support team. To qualify for this service, the participant must have a formal Behavior Plan and a documented need for additional on-site execution and modeling of the specified behavioral support strategies.
Community Development Services
Millennium Care’s Community Development Services (CDS) program provides personalized support to help participants engage in integrated community settings. These services, offered in environments alongside non-disabled individuals, create meaningful opportunities for community-based training activities. The program focuses on improving communication and social skills, health quality, and employability.
Designed to enhance competencies and foster independence, the CDS program helps individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities accomplish basic community-based tasks. Each participant has a Person-Centered Plan that emphasizes their strengths, needs, goals, and desires, ensuring they become active and comfortable in their community. Participants receive support up to 8 hours a day and limited to 40 hours a week.
